Digital advertising can be a great tool to help you gain brand awareness online, and Facebook is the unquestionable leader in the digital advertising game.

Facebook is used by almost 3 billion people worldwide including an estimated 68% of the US population. For businesses, this represents an amazing opportunity to reach out to potential customers and show them what your brand is all about. Think of Facebook as a giant megaphone that can help you get the word out about your product or service!

Perhaps the best thing about creating a video advertisement on Facebook is the ability to do it for any purpose. Maybe you’re a new company just trying to gain some name recognition. The Brand Awareness objective would be perfect for you. You could also create campaigns focused on promoting site traffic, page views or even conversions.

Video killed the still image advertisement star

Now that you’ve found an objective, it’s time to apply your creative skills to make an engaging ad. Thinking of using a static image for your ad? DON’T. Do not use static images for your Facebook ads, do not pass go, do not collect $200. For reasons mentioned here, videos perform much better on social media than still images. They grab your audience’s attention and allow you to communicate clearly with the viewer.

Let’s go over some specifications and recommendations for a GREAT Facebook video ad:

Make it entertaining!

  • Consumers say that the most engaging social ad content are things that entertain them

Keep it short and sweet

  • Facebook lets you use videos up to 241 minutes(!) but we suggest that videos should be less than 2 minutes to keep your audience engaged

Include a link to your site or product

Text Recommendations

  • Primary Text: 125 characters
  • Headline: 40 characters
  • Description: 30 characters
